Halfway Through 2025: What’s Really Shaping Leadership Right Now.

As we hit pause mid-year (or try to), I’ve looked back at what resonated most with readers of my blog - and something stood out.

The most-read articles weren’t about speed, systems, or scale.

They were about space.

Thinking space. Emotional space. Strategic space.

The kind of space leaders need to rise above the noise and lead with intention, not urgency.

(Interestingly, urgency came up in a deep conversation on Friday in Melbourne this week, when I attended an extraordinary conversation with business leaders facilitated by my dear friend and trusted colleague, Repa Patel. But, I digress...)

The following five pieces surfaced repeatedly in conversations with clients, colleagues, and readers this half year.

If you missed them, now might be the right time to revisit.

If you read them earlier, perhaps one deserves a second look through the lens of where you are now.

Here’s what made the biggest impact:

Across these articles, a few themes emerged:

Intentional Leadership

Leadership as a conscious practice, not a performance. Making deliberate choices rather than reacting to the next demand.

The Power of Quiet

Silence is not an absence of action. It’s a space to think clearly and respond wisely.

Reflective Practice as Strategy

The leaders who pause to reflect are often the ones who navigate complexity with the most clarity.

Sustainable Influence and Legacy

Impact that lasts is built through consistency, relationship, and trust—not just early wins.

Human Skills Matter Most

As AI evolves, relational intelligence and self-awareness are what truly differentiate effective leaders.

These pieces connected not just because of what I wrote, but because I invited you to consider yourself.

What are you focusing on?

Where are you finding space to think? Who is helping you make sense of it all?

My sincere hope for you, is that you get a break to reflect at mid-year, which of course, for many of us is the start of a new year, at least in financial terms. Often, it's a time to reset - a useful time to step out and rest briefly.

And go gently.
