Leading with Intention, Curiosity, and Courage.
As the first quarter of 2025 closes, I've reviewed the conversations, reflections, and shared insights from my Letters to Leaders this year.
What's emerged is a clear pattern—an invitation to lead with intention, curiosity, and courage in the face of uncertainty.
Here's a snapshot of the themes:
1. Great Leaders Don't Have All the Answers; They Ask the Right Questions
The year started with my challenge that leadership isn't about certainty. Instead, I invited you to cultivate your curiosity. The most impactful leaders I've worked with are the ones who aren't afraid to say, "I don't know, but let's find out." They create trust by asking, listening, and learning.
2. There's No Single ' Right' Way to Lead
Borrowing a metaphor from a visit to Vietnam's Cao Dai temple, I explored leadership as a thoughtful integration of various approaches that suit who you are at your core. Leadership isn't a doctrine; it's a practice. And your style is most potent when it's authentically yours.
3. Intentionality is the Key to Growth
Professional and personal development needs to be more than box-ticking. Leaders don't stop growing. In senior roles, intentional, ongoing development becomes critical. The question I offered you is: Are you purposeful about what you consume, reflect on, and pursue?
Rise above the noise this quarter and create space for deep, strategic thought. Reflection is a radical act in a world where busyness is worn as a badge of honour. It's also where vision is formed, clarity emerges, and decisions gain grounding.
5. Fresh Perspectives Fuel Expansive Leadership
Being open to new ideas, feedback, and experimentation helps leaders stretch beyond what's familiar. When you stay open, you remain adaptable; that's your superpower.
And I'm here to remind you (sorry, Alanis) that how you lead today is the legacy you leave tomorrow.
Start this quarter by considering the following points:
Where have you grown since January?
What new questions are you asking?
Where do you need more quiet thinking time?
What legacy are you crafting with your choices?
How do I want to lead from April to June and beyond?
I'd love to hear what's resonated with you in the past few months.
Go gently and lead with purpose,
